This finish brings the appearance of natural stone and marble to interior walls and ceilings.  The plaster finish originated in Venice, Italy. The medium is created with combining lime plaster with marble dust and desired pigments. The medium is applied in multiple thin layers utilizing a trowel.

Depending on which compound is utilized, the price range is $15/sqft to $33/sqft for synthetic paints that are formulated to mimic Venetian plaster. Authentic Lime Venetian Plaster will cost $30/sqft to $84/sqft.

The methodology to apply Venetian plaster is applying multiple thin layers of the compound allowing each layer to fully cure.  During the layering of the plaster, we will be burnishing the underlayer with the trowel.  Once the entire substrate is covered, we will go over the cured plaster with our burnishing tools to establish a smooth marbled finish.  The entire process is labor intensive and requires a great deal of patience with the client and the artisan.
